In the past, I've used a proprietary oral rinse called Difflam. It certainly does the trick and I've been able to sing/say all evening when I've previously had no voice.

The next day's another thing, however, and you will certainly suffer. Also, don't - whatever you do - swallow any of it. It will do whatever to the rest of your system.
