Sorry Guest,meself, I should have been more clear. I only oppose government subsidies when they can afford it, (clearly not the case in the USA), Canada CAN afford it, like I stated before, were the only G7 nation with a constant fiscal surplus, year after year. That's all I meant. No contradictions. I wish the USA could afford to better help the poor, but that clearly isn't the case at the moment. That is why I am suggesting the poor make more efforts to help themselves. It's only common sense.
