Handguns are completely illegal here in the UK, nutty, yet anyone in the know can apparantly go out and get one tomorrow! Legality and ownership are not the same thing. I don't believe guns should be made legal for everyone but the current laws only stop responsible, law-abiding citizens from getting them. Maybe if we seriously clamped down on firearms, as in shoot anyone carrying one on sight, we may see a reduction in gun crime? I don't really know and suspect the topic is too complex for us amateurs to solve.
