I just, for the first time in my life, actually registered the fact that this line is in our national anthem:

"Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just"

That line is so little known that it isn't really a significant factor in modern American culture. But the fact that a song containing that line was adopted as our anthem in the first place, is just about appalling.
