Tomorrow they will try closing the valve (the drain) in his head to see if that will get the normal pathway for fluid (to the stomach) to work. If it does not they will insert a shunt. He will have another brain scan and possibly MRI as well.

The tube in his throat is probably causing irritation, so they will (very probably) also do a tracheotomy, intended to be temporary, to permit breathing and ventilation if needed in that way.

Val much appreciates everyone's good wishes, and indeed is very touched. That probably means that when she catches up with the well-wishers, they (or at least the male ones) are going to think they have been trapped in a Russ Meyer movie, for a while.
