If it has been mentioned here at all, it has not been mentioned lately: Randy Newman's "I Think It's Going To Rain today." It sounds like a depressed man trying to give all the reasons why he ought to be more cheerful, but he hasn't got a chance.
"If You See Her Say Hello", from Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" is another real heartbreaker.
Joni Mitchell's "Cactus Tree" is another one, which I love, but which you don't find on a lot of party hits albums...
