Thread Name: BS: Power
Subject: RE: BS: Power
As the book* says, "Power corrupts; absolute power is kinda neat."

At work I have, within the limits set by law, the power to hire, fire, buy, sell, direct, dictate, coach, pursuade, manage, sign checks, spend taxpayers' money, and so forth. And I am (besides to the prosecutors) answerable only to the Board of Trustees. The city has no say in how we spend the money as long as we don't exceed our budget.

Is this power? Yes.

How do I use it? Very very carefully and judiciously, if at all. And my staff knows that they can disagree with me and that I will change my mind if a good case is made.

*Furry Logic, which I highly recommend.
