Oh man, I'm so happy. I just spent an hour replacing the power supply of the Pentium on the desk--and FINALLY it does not scream like a Hawker Hurricane doing a groundscrew from 20,000 feet. I thought it was noisy, but never knew how noisy until I just booted the old box and heard nothin but The Sound Of Silence.

What's that you say? This is supposed to be a music site? Well of course it is...now I can actually record into my sound card! I can edit sound files and hear (and remove) any nasty background hiss!

Second best part is the price tag: zero $ and zero cents. Pulled the replacement outta the scrap metal pile at the dump!

One thing I like about the throwaway technology age: I bought a used 486/33 computer in 1995, and have never bought one since...but I've now replaced over 100% of the hardware. And it works great.
