Lots of research has been done on the "dangers of mobile phones," to adults and children, and the conclusion of virtually all of the credible research is that they are only dangerous to children if they use the phone to call a local (child) pornographer.

I suppose they could use their computer via Wi-Fi for the same purposes, so it's quite true that the hazards are about the same.
