Sorry Amos Program on BBC2 7.00 p.m. tonight. I did not see the very beginning, and when I switched over they were talking about black students in a college in Jena Louisiana being prevented from sitting under a tree, which it seems had traditionally been only for white students. At least I think that was what had sparked off the trouble. It seems that when black pupils protested, somebody hung a noose from the tree, some black residents say as a warning, some white residents say as a prank. At first, I thought I was viewing a story from the sixties, except, I guess then, there would have been a black student at the end of the rope.
