And if there was a "conspiracy", wouldn't it have been to commit (whatever-degree) murder? Is it possible to both "commit" and merely "attempt" a crime? Sounds like they're being charged with conspiring to commit and conspiring not quite to commit murder - so that the Prosecution can have it either way ...
