I'm fascinated by the discoveries of these exo-planets, but something puzzles me:

The bigger the planet, and the closer it is to its star, the bigger the 'wobbles' and the easier it is to detect ... right? Many of these 'big-close-to-their-star' planets appear to be gas giants - like 'super-Jupiters' ... OK?

But wouldn't the atmosphere of a gas giant, close to its star just boil away ... or am I being stupid?
