Has this matter come up previously on this thread - did I miss something? Or are you just playing it really, really safe? One can't help but wonder, can one?

It has come up a number of times in threads, when I have realized I've been misunderstood. When I take the extra care (assuming I know I'm going to be addressing UKers), I seem to be taken with good will, and when I don't I seem to get taken as a self-aggrandizer or attacker. But I'm the same person either way-- it's just the idiom.

I guess I'm looking for reputation guidance myself. :~)
