freightdawg, thanks to TVLand on cable, my 3.5 year old grandson loves the Andy Griffith Show and even looks a lot like Opie.:-)

I loved the comedy shows mentioned, but also Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Rifleman, and Hogan's Heroes and, later with my kids, Mork and Mindy and of course, Star Trek.

Worst shows? SNL has become one of the worst, imo. I don't even watch many comedies any more for some of the same reasons others have listed, though I don't see them trying to make any statements as much as just use down-in-the-gutter over-the-top (if that's not too mixed up!)so-called humour to show how "with it" they supposedly are.
