Bernard Fitch (DFC & bar) is my Uncle and Mothers Brother.
I am glad his crew thought so highly of him to name a son after him.
Tail gunners were usually the first to get it if a fighter clocked a Lanc in its sights. Your father was fortunate to have him as am I. He would have suffered the delighhts of a corkscrew if you Dad saw a fighter. Ask him what it was like, as Bernard would have been steering!
