Yes, we have sheep over here!
The counting system in question was discussed by mathematician Donald Smeltzer in Man and Number (A & C Black, 1970). Found in the Yorkshire dales, akin to Welsh, supposedly Celtic in origin, etc.
But I don't know if the sheep over here were ever counted by this method from over there . . . .
