Thread Name: BS: Help! info on Woody's Cook-In Sauce
Subject: BS: late, lamented Woody's Cook-In Sauce
Fellow cooks (especially Southern U.S. regional cooks), please help!

I have flown into a panic because my favorite barbecue sauce component, Woody's Cook-In Sauce, is suddenly unavailable. Web research has produced only the information that it was made in New Orleans and that it's no longer in production.

Alas! I have used this product for about 50 years, and as far as I know there is nothing else like it: It contained the smoky and spicy components of a barbecue sauce without the sweetness, and in a formula that was thick enough to stay where you put it. It made catfish heavenly, and mixing in some Woody's made other types of sauces (sweet barbecue sauces for chicken, for example, and hoisin sauce for lamb) infinitely more interesting.

So, does anyone have any information on what happened to the company, a replacement product I could order, or a recipe for anything similar?

Many thanks in advance.

Claire
