Kings Cross, the entertainment centre of Sydney, about half a mile up the hill from the CBD, next to Sydney's beautiful Harbour.

It's a mixed area of retail, entertainment (expensive bars/nightclubs, 24 hour liquor licences, strip clubs etc) & the highest density residential area in Sydney. Old & new apartment blocks, old terrace housing, lots of rich folks, still some poor folks, street people & drug addicts, lots of backpackers, zillions of tourists & visiting Sydneysiders out for a "good time"

The Cross was part of the first British settlement of Sydney in the years following their arrival in 1788. It's part of the suburb Potts Point which includes Wooloomooloo (public & private housing), Elizabeth Bay (where zillionaires live), East Sydney & Rushcutters Bay. All localities include terrace housing, small old & tall new apartment blocks, rich & poor. And tourists.
