If you're planning on actually thinking about it (rare but not unheard of here), putting your "real name" into a Google and/or into the "how many of me" page linked about 4 posts above will give you some idea of how many others you might be confused with, and especially how deeply you would be buried in Google hits if someone looks for you.

The "how many" site won't be much use for a "mudcat name" but a Google search on one you're thinking about would provide some idea of how unique you would be -- at least until Google starts linking to your posts here. Some seemingly arcane names are actually surprisingly popular on the web.

Just as quick checks, of course, if it matters to you.
