In my "career " as a Stage-Door Keeper, I met Joe a few times, and he (and The Bruvvers ) are not only consummate professionals, but really nice people as well.Joe always seemed pretty laid back, really, but underneath he"s really on the ball ! ---Once all his instruments(Collectively worth an absolute fortune ! ) are set up on stage, nobody but nobody is allowed on stage, no crew, no technical manager, etc., until curtain up.And ,when he"s performing, the "follow spot " is constantly on Joe, and woe betide the follow- spot operator who gets it wrong !!! Just two examples of the man"s utter professionalism. The last time I saw him, he was reprising the Lonnie Donegan memorial concert, or some of it ( the whole first half of his show), and a lot of it was a capella, or with minimum accompaniment, and it was spine tinglingly good !!! And when the show is over, Joe doesn"t spend 2 hours in his dressig room getting plastered like some well-known acts I could mention !! ( but I won't , unless you pay me )
