Once a few yrs ago, there was a poll conducted in the US & Britain to pick worst song of all time & both came up with the same song, MacArthur Park. Not a Folk song, tho.
The trouble with folk songs; often the worse they are, the better they are, or at least they're kinda fun; like S-A-V-E-D, or (from Hi-Tone Gal):
Adam & Eve were down in the garden, hoein' a field of tomaters... Eve run around a mulberry bush and hit him in the eye with a tater...
