The feeling's spreading. I caught another American newsreader who apologised for introducing an item on Brit Spears after an item on a severely handicapped man. And he said it without irony.
Also today on the BBC at the end of a discussion on events of the last week, the presenter apologised (ironically) for not getting round to Paris Hilton. Keep it up folks!
