thats right Diane,crans vary from piper to piper,however there is a slight difference from a roll,rolls generally have the first note lengthened,so the rhythmic emphasis is different,crans can also be six notes for E you might play bEaEdE or aEfshEdE.
the whole point about the English Concertina,is that it is easiest,to do your cut notes on the opposite side,to the main note.Dick Miles
