I remember being in a small boat, dropping my cookie overboard and crying while I watched it float away in the wake. We moved into town away from the water, when I was around 9 months old, so its a pretty early memory.

I also remember visiting an aunt up Island and sitting on my Dad's shoulders while a very large boar was being loaded up a ramp into a boxcar of a train. Apparently I must have been very impressed by the size of the pig's testicles, because I entertained the assembled crowd by yelling, "Look at the pig's bum, Daddy! Look at the pig's bum!" in my loudest voice. I would have been around 2 years old.   

When I was 3, I also have a very vivid memory of standing and picking bits of coloured broken glass from the stucco on my aunt's back porch and feeling very homesick. I had been sent to stay with her, while my mother was in hospital after delivering a stillborn baby.
