A pixie in plaid pants, you offer sight
To ease these tired eyes. Perhaps in dream
I might have chance to thank you for the light
You give imagination. Do you seem
To smile? What might I say, to have you glance
In my direction? Years keep me from thought
Of more than dreams. You leave: I have no chance
To find if dreams might add to more than naught.
Will I see you another night, and stare
As if I might see your desires, or try
To know what you are thinking? Might I share
These words, though age must hopes and dreams deny?
I do not ask that you reply: Just let
A foolish man his ramblings not regret.
