My favourite Danny Kaye song was an Americanized version of the Nightmare Song from "Iolanthe" -- the one that begins:

I was lying awake with a dismal headache ... [stuff missing]
I presume you may use any language you choose to indulge in without impropriety.

It was a cherry-red 45 with "Inchworm" on the B side -- or maybe "Inchworm" was the A side but I was too Gilbert&Sullivan-fixated to notice. I was 11 -- what can I say?
