I understand that Bob Hoskins can 'do' a reasonable North American (New York / New York Jewish) accent (I believe it was a comment made after the release of "Sweet Liberty"), but from this side of the pond, I'm not qualified to tell.

I do know that I've seen some footage of him being interviewed at drama school - the accent there is nothing like that he became famous with.
