They don't exist in real life, only in the fevered fantasies of those who find some kind of deluded hope in them that they cannot manage to make for themselves in the real world."

No! You mean it????? My God!!! (sob!) Who'd-a thunk it? I shall have to end it all now by some hideous means. My life is OVER. I simply can't go on knowing that Star Trek...is.....not....real! It's like finding out that....that Milli Vanilli lip-synced some of their songs or...or realizing that Sid Vicious actually wasn't a very good musician at all.
