I believe there is a germane body of mythological referent in the Norse tradition, which raises interesting issues of common ancestorhood. The Scandinavian legends speak of Langer Dünnerhund who is variously presented as a half-man half-god, or as a full-god who occasionally shows up in man's form, typically surprising poor families by sitting down at their dinner tables unexpectedly.

One of the stories about this mythic figure involves his falling in love with a mortal maiden of great beauty, as beautiful as any sunrise, and coming down the golden stairs from Asgard to capture her from her poor family and abscond with her to a big party in Valhalla. Her beauty was so overpowering, however, that Langer Dünnerhund began to experience enormous priapism while seeking to make good his escape up the golden staircase back to Asgard. This affectation so encumbered his progress that the damsel was able to wrest herself free from his grip and escape back to her parent's lowly hut on the farm (a decision she regretted for the rest of her life).
