Whistle Stop--

I guess for me "Love, Reign O'er Me," taken in the context of the whole of Quadrophenia, has always seemed to me to be more about the wanting for "rebirth, redemption, trancendence", the gaping emptiness where the album's protaganist can only seek for them, than anything else. Uplifting in a sad way, or sad in an uplifting way, as Townshend so often accomplishes.

All a matter of perception, I guess.
