When it's closing time at the night club,
And the bar is shutting down;
I know I'm s'posed to be packin' up,
But I want to play one more song.

The bartender has his evil eye
On the queen of closing time,
The waitress is counting her money,
As she gulps her glass of wine.

The audience knows it's over,
But lingers a little too long.
They're ready, drunk and able,
To hear one last sing-along song.

But, the manager's finger crosses his throat,
And he gives me a beery shout,
"Don't let that swingin' door
Hit your ass as you head on out!"
