Well, I grew up poor. We couldn't afford the depravity all my friends had, but we struggled along in our deprivity. Sometimes I had to sell things like my grandmother's upper plate in order to enjoy a little bit of depravity with my friends. But I always stole it back for her, so things worked out okay. If I hadn't been so deprived as a child I would have been depraved much sooner. But I think that I'm better able to enjoy my depravity now, to savor it, and I wouldn't have had the necessary experience when I was younger.
