Backwoodsman...I don't agree. However, unfortunately and regretably, that may well be the common perception. A recent preseason incident (the Downie hit) does nothing to help either...like drug use, unfair play, betting, cheating and a host of other things troubling pro sports. Too bad, it detracts from the vast majority of good will and fair play most common in pro hockey. Heartbreaking too, for those of us who grew up on pond hockey and road hockey where the biggest arguments were over who got to "be" Keon, Howe, or Richard...and actively relive our juvenile fantasies through the NHL.
