Today we went out with friends to a little side street that ends in the hill above La Jolla Cove -- a footpath leads down along the bluffs, perhaps eight feet above the surf, looking down on cliffs and bays lined with cormorants, pelicans, and sea lions. We had brunch in a small café looking out over the azure Pacific; you could see half-way to Los Angeles, it was so clear.

Then we strolled the shopping streets and wandered ome again tired by happy.
