"Daft 'apeth" was common for a small person not worth very much. H'apeth or 'apeth was the common abbreviation for ha'penny, or halfpenny. It's the only bit I remember of a children's rhyme:

An 'apeth of chips to grease your lips.

Anyone know the rest?
