That shopping centre is a pretty damned awful example of what has now become known as 'Brutalism' by the architechtural press. The building at the front, the now closed and waiting for someone to take pity on it, The Lancastrian Hall, was shortlisted as the countries ugliest building:-(

I don't remember the pub, I'm afraid, nutty. There was a Conservative club and a Labour club but my 'Pubs of Swinton and Pedlebury' book (Would anyone guess I just may have one of those;-) ) has no details of a pub there. Can you remember the name? It could be that it is either the Weavers or the Football that both avoided demolition by the width of a road! Pop along and see if we can rekindle some more of those good memories:-)
