Mourning in the morning, Spider Tom, but, maybe a wee tad of drinking has been known to happen later on Anzac Day. Guess it's a way for those who still "scream in the night" when thinking of the "cull" to drown or talk out the memories. Then, usually later in the day, the real mourning hits, and the tears flow.

Love your words, and sentiments, especially the use of the word "cull". Don't hear it used much these days. Where in the world are you? Once, many years back, I was a "culler", and literally shot the living daylights out of herds of deer and goats. Reducing their numbers. With no natural predators, they were eating the lights out of our forest. Not a pretty job, but, alas, necessary.

Let's hope we eventually find something more user friendly than war to "cull" our already overnumbered human species. Doubt I'll see it..:(

It's encouraging to hear that Anzac Cove was declared a "Peace Park" a few hours back.
