I can remember Peter Alliss the Golf Commentator observing once, at a competition in the UK where Volvic were sponsors, when a group arrived at a tee and helped themselves to the bottles of water, "Ah yes, didn't used to drink that in my day, you know I read one of the labels on one of those bottles the other day. It says that the water contained in the bottle had been filtered through volcanic rock for 140 million years, I couldn't read the rest of the label as it was obscured by a sticker that said "Best before 6th July 2007". I mean how the hell did they know".

Years ago they did a survey on water tap and bottled in the UK. The best water in terms of content, taste, clarity, purity came out of the taps in Manchester. One enterprising Coach at the local swimming club bought this in bulk and had it bottled for about 3 pence a bottle and sold it at Swim Meets and Galas at 50 pence, even used the Newspaper article as advertising.

As someone else said the bottles tend to be recycled and so they should they are worth a fortune in bulk.
