I buy maybe 2 cases of bottled water a year, for use when traveling, or at the gym. I wash and refill the bottles with tap or bulk-bottled water to drink out of at the office, and then finally use them one last time to keep milk for coffee at the office. They are handy, light, bottles to have around, and if they get grubby they are disposable, unlike a plastic cup, canteen, or thermos which acquires odors.

I also buy a few here and there when I am on the road and need a beverage, and a convenience store has no sodas which aren't full of sugar or caffeine.

M.Ted, I realize many places have compromised groundwater, but in our area the groundwater is very clean and has virtually no bacteria, it is the surface water which is full of crud and has to be processed.   It all depends on where you are and who has tampered with your water.
