I thought it was something along those lines, but the tape I have (from a simulcast of PP&M's 25th Anniversary broadcast on Public TV) was just enough out of tune with my guitar to drive me absolutely crazy. What you describe is very similar to the guitar part to the Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil." I'll have to give it a try again tonight.
