Elfego Baca carried his in his hip pocket. Jack Slade shoved his pistol into his belt, as did Henry McCarty on occasion. Doc Holliday carried his in either a holster or his coat pocket (when he didn't use a sawn-off shotgun). Slane McBride (who later moved to Canada) usually shot his victims in the back with with a rifle, from ambush. Tom Horn shot them down with a Winchester. Wild Bill Hickok used cap-and-ball pistols. Jesse and Frank James both carried their pistols in saddle holsters, as did Big and Little Harpe (who also stuck them in their belts).
