Last night on ABC (Oz) Radio National there was broadcast an interview to commemorate Remembrance Day, where Philip Adams talked with Michael Caulfield who began a mammoth task in 2002 to record a social history about those who have directly participated in or have been affected by Australia's involvement in war, from World War 1 to the present. The project includes over 2000 interviews and is available for all to access on the internet. I understand the interviews are unexpurgated; those of some living veterans are embargoed until after their deaths and those of currently serving personnel are embargoed for 15 years for security reasons.

Michael has also selected 21 of these interviews and has published them in a book, Voices of War: Australians Tell their Stories from World War 1 to the Present.

Cheers, Rowan
