Amos, I'm sorry if it looks like I ignored your query in your post of 09 Sep. 11:14 but I guess I lost track of the thread and only just saw it. In reply to your question, I kinda always wondered about it myself and what I come up with is something along the lines of not making a value judgment about someone by just looking at the bad parts and not seeing the good. This is a rural agricultural area and a lot of the local aphorisms reflect that.
