The Corries got their version from Archie Fisher back in the 60s, but I'm not too sure where Archie got it - maybe a Kennedy-Fraser semi-translation.

The original gaelic version is worth a listen if only to hear how the tune has been changed for the English translation. If I remember correctly Norman Kennedy used to sing the gaelic version - did he record it?
