This from Mike harding. I've heard less Northcountry versions.

T'was one evening last October,
when I was about one third sober.
I was walking down our street with manly pride,
when my poor feet began to stutter,
so I laid me down in t' gutter
and a pig came up, and lay down by my side.

We sung some songs together,
'Rock Around the Clock', and 'Stormy Weather'
'till a lady passing by was heard to say,
"You can tell a man who boozes
by the company he chooses!"
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.
