Thread Name: Lyr Req: Where the Orange Blossoms Grow
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Where the Orange Blossoms Grow
This is the way we sang it at North Beach Elementary School on Miami Beach in the 50's:

I want to wake up in the morning
Where the orange blossoms grow
And the sun comes peepin'
Into where I'm sleepin'
And the songbirds say "hello".
I want to wander in the orange groves
Where we children used to roam
And go drifting back to Florida.
It is the state I call my home.

It might have been "the state I call my own" but home rhymes with roam, so my old brain might be substituting.

Right now there's a big contest going on to replace "Old Folks at Home" as the state song. I don't know why they don't just use this one.
