If you're a five string banjo player, you'll really need to get to this festival. Two of the world's best clawhammer players will be there on stage and in workshops. Tim Bing learned his playing as a young man at the cabins of the legendary Hammons family of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, and Dwight Diller recommends him as being the best player of Hammons banjo music. He's not done much recording, but he's none the worse for that. I jammed with him at Glenville WV in 2006, and he knocked my socks off.
Adam Hurt is still in his early twenties, and started learning Old Time banjo in his home state of Minnesota as a very young schoolboy. Over the last ten years he has shone in the competitions held at US Old Time festivals, and earned a lot of respect from the Old Time world - the names of the people who wanted to be on his latest CD say it all. The following links will get you pictures and sounds of these guys.
