Thread Name: Lyr Req: On My Father's Side (2 songs)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: On My Father's Side
I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Warren Goad and I am the guitar player and bass singer for the Village Singers. I found this forum while doing a search on Google for "On My Father's Side Lyrics". I get at least 2 or 3 emails a week asking for the lyrics to this song. I don't give them out due to legal issues with the copyright, but I wanted a way to point them to the words without giving them out.

The lyrics as to the way we sing it are closest to what Grover posted.

The song that little Jan Buckner wrote that sang with Wendy is called ON MY MOTHER'S SIDE. Both songs were inspired by a sermon given by a black minister that Felecia was attending. Jan's minister was also attending and liked the message so much that he came back and gave it at Jan's church. One sermon told by 2 different ministers inspired 2 songs.

I have never heard of The Reinhardts. We got the song from a group called "Twice as Nice" from Texarkana. They no longer travel or perform together.

The Homestead Pickers got the song from us when we played the gazebo theater in Silver Dollar City. Great folks.

The song got a boost when the Bott Radio Network played the song for the Christmas season several years ago. I am not sure but they may play it every year around Christmas.

Hope this clears up a few things.

Thanks
Warren
