Subject: BS: Painting on 4 or more levels
I have been creating a style of painting on the inside and outside of glass, plastic etc in multiple layers. While Maxfield Parrish made many layers seperated by sanded varnish, some of my layers float 2 to 6 inches above or behind the main surface. Putting a bent bell shaped curve of a mirror behind a glass painted on each side I have gotten some interesting effects such as a portriat reflecting a different expression from behind. I have used this style on undersea themes, space, landscape, wild life and visual metaphors for freedom, joy etc.

Of course this schtik is only as good as its execution but early animation used this technique for their backgrounds appearing to move slower than the forground.

Like an opal it is difficult to show the changability in still photography. I'm gonna hafta figure out how to post video on you tube...it can't be that hard , some of you do it ;^}

Here is the most simple and rather crude version of glass layers with only 3 layers depicting: quasar black holes ring nebula and and floating planet that could count as a fourth layer.
