I echo John on the Sumset Coast -- Back in the days when I was haunting coffee houses open mikes, I formed attachments to two of the greatest folk groups ever - The Kingston Trio and Bud and Travis.
I remember when Dave Guard left and John Stewart joined. I had seen the Trio in concert twice (Long Beach and Santa Barbara)and was sorely disappointed when Dave left - I couldn't fathom anyone taking his place without lowering their show quality a bit. Boy, was I WRONG !! I went to another Trio concert in 1962 and was simply blown away by the new sound and it was new (Take Her Out of Pity was then and still is my favorite Stewart trio number). It seems all my favorites are leaving this world , but it is a better place for them having been here. God rest you John Stewart - and sing out with the angels !!
